Project: Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Progress Goal Promote UAS technology for applications that benefit IEEE AESS members UAS University Projects • Fraunhofer, Wachtberg, Germany, Missouri Institute of Science and Technology, Rolla, MO and Jackson State University, Jackson MS. • IEEE provides materials, but does not facilitate operation. Funding total = $5k. • Objective is to develop a UAV with a test plan and provide test results. Deadline for reports is 30-June-2016. Budget / Resources 2015: $5,000 All funding has been spent. Project Success - Metrics • Increase UAS activity for AESS to grow membership by 5% annually
Unmanned Aircraft Systems Competitions 2016 Established by the Association for Unmanned Vehicles Systems International, the AUVSI Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides students with hands-on robotics activities designed to fuel and sustain their interest in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Since the competitions began in 1991, more than $1.4 million has been awarded in prize money.
