Four Methods Of Cutting • Plasma Arc • Water Jet • Carbon Arc • Abrasive Saw • NOT by oxy-gas
Plasma Arc Cutting • Recommended method. • Material can be cut with hand-held model (inexpensive) • Plates can be cut from either side • Consider plasma arc taper • High definition plasma for greater precision • Angled torch for countersunk holes
Cold Forming • Rolling always in the same direction as the overlay beads. • Convex recommended • Concave with great care • Pressing always with a radiused tool, never with a “knife”
Methods of attachment • Material cannot be mechanically drilled or countersunk using traditional methods • Either : • Plug welding • Stud Welding • Countersunk bolts • Pre-machined inserts
Fixing Holes • Direct plasma arc piercing gives a perfectly acceptable hole quality for most applications • A machined insert can be welded in place but is often a more expensive method
