  3. National Institution collecting STI data • Does not exist, but necessary • No official existence of STI data (input and output indicators) • The STI data is fragmented • Should be a national Institution where in private companies, government, the university are present

  4. Research and Advice Council (OAR) Research and Development (R&D)at AdeKUS • Research and Development Fund :Offers the opportunity to individual lecturers and research institution to do research (2002) • Requirements • Research days

InstituteforappliedTechnologyIntec (I) • Founded in 1986 • Started again in November 2004 • In Principle Intec supports and give direction to the Technological Development in the Surinamese Society • Intec should be a knowledge and management centre for technology • Intec should be a catalyst between AdekUS and the Private sector

A way forward • The preparation for the creation of a Science and Technological centre at AdeKUS( awareness and promotion of STI indicators and their advantage) • Prepare legislation with respect to collection of data • Coloboration of AdeKUS with the government and private sector • Regular contact with the other Caribbean countries and South America through creating a Science and Technology Innovation Platform (STIPC)
