Grammar for Lesson 2 ذلك ‘Dhaalika’ : ‘That’ Issmul-ishaarah (lil-ba’eed) : Demonstrative pronoun ذلك is used to refer to objects that are not in close proximity, where as هذا is used to refer to objects that are near. For example: ‘هذا ولد و ذلك رجل’ means: ‘this is a boy and that is a man’

  9. 3. Grammar for Lesson 2 ذلك ‘ما الاستفهام‘ : ‘maaul-istifhaam’ and ‘dhaalika’ If ‘maaul-istifhaam’ precedes ‘dhaalika’ then the statement changes to the question form. For example: ‘ماذلك؟’ means: ‘What is that ?’

  10. 3. Grammar for Lesson 2 ذلك ‘ همزة الاستفهام( أ )‘ : ‘Hamzahtul-istifhaam’ and ‘dhaalika’ If ‘hamzahtul-istifhaam’ precedes ‘dhaalika’ then the statement changes to the question form. For example: ‘أذلك...؟’ means: ‘Isthat… ?’
