  1. Lesson 1.6 By: Joo Won and Viki

  2. Formula • A mathematical statement that shows how to solve a problem. Ex. P=2l+2w P=4s A=lw D=rt

  3. Perimeter • The border of a figure. • Rectangle: P=2l+2w • Square: P=4s This square’s sides are 4cm long. P=4s P=4cm(4cm) P=16cm This rectangle’s length is 5cm and width is 4cm. P=2l+2w P=2cm(5cm)+2cm(4cm) P=10cm+8cm P=18cm

  4. Area The space covering the surface of a shape. * Area of a Square x= side of a square x= 5cm A= x Xx = 5cm X 5cm = 25cm squared * Area of a Rectangle A= l x w = 7cm x 14cm = 98cm squared

  5. Distance • Use D=rt to find how far you traveled. • D=distance traveled • r=speed • t=time You traveled for 2 hours with the speed of 120 kmph. D=rt D=120kmph(2hr) D=240km

  6. Extras • Find the time. • T=d/r • T=10km/5kmph • T=2hr • When there are figures like these (left). Divide them into squares/rectangles to find the areas. Then add the areas together.

  7. Thanks for Listening! And do well on the test~!
