LSTA Background Information LSTA (Library Services and Technology Act) grants are available to all types of libraries in Ohio Federal LSTA moneys come to the State Library of Ohio through IMLS LSTA grants will benefit your students if you have a library need that matches LSTA priorities. Think about the demographics of your school, lack of technology, and staff knowledge in order to improve student achievement.

    17. Using the RFP Read through the RFP at least twice before writing the proposal When the proposal is complete re-read and verify met all requirements

    23. Using the Application Guidelines Read prior to writing proposal Check each section as you write the proposal to make sure all pertinent information is included Make sure to include all sections and subsections Look at the point values for each section!

Using the Scoring Guide LSTA Reflections Read the scoring guide with your proposal and make sure everything is covered Have someone read your final draft and “score” your proposal Look at the points! Remember format, appendices, etc. Past Applicant Reflections Use the scoring guide throughout the grant writing process Collaborate with the public library, regional library, teachers and parents. Ask them to score your proposal and write letters of support.

Past Applicant Reflections Work with administrators and your treasurer to develop a sound budget Check budget guidelines closely Get quotes early then update before submitting your grant

Use of Project Summary LSTA Reflections If project is recommended, this is what the State Library Board will receive Anyone reading the summary should know what your project is all about Write Last! Past Applicant Reflections Take key sentences right from your proposal to develop this summary Ask others to read and critique your summary that have not read your proposal

    36. Use of Reporting Materials Review prior to writing and/or submitting proposal Will your project fit the timeframe? Reporting requirements may impact your objectives, evaluation and or budget Share budget reporting requirements with treasurer
