Growing up Amphibians • A salamander that does not change fully into adult form is called the Axolotl. • The Axolotl does not have the hormone that it needs to change into an adult. It keeps it’s gills and has to stay in the water.
Growing up Amphibians • In most amphibians the gills disappear and are replaced by lungs so that they can live on land • Most amphibians grow into adults within a year. At that time, they are ready to start the life cycle all over again with new eggs.
