  1. Department of Building and Real Estate CIB Student Chapter The Best Final Year Dissertation Award Competition 2003 The HKPolyU CIB Student Chapter is going to organize The Best Final-Year Dissertation Award Competition 2003, which aims at promoting research culture and interest among students in the Department of Building and Real Estate. Students who are members of the Chapter and will submit their final-year dissertations (for academic year 2002/03) on or before 31st May 2003 are eligible for the Competition. Yet, they are required to express their interests of joining the Competition by replying our e-mail of invitation with the following particulars: 1. name of student; 2. student I.D.; 3. course attended; 4. research title; and 5. research supervisor. Six final-year dissertations (three from undergraduates and three from postgraduates) will be short-listed for the final round of the Competition by the Assessment Panel.  There will be one Distinction Award and two Merit Awards in both the undergraduate and postgraduate categories. Each Distinction Award winner will be invited to condense his / her studies into a 10-pages conference paper for presentation at the CIB Student Chapters International Symposium to be held at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University on 26th and 27th September 2003. Prizes (for both undergraduate and postgraduate categories): 1 No. of Distinction Award: HK$ 1,000 and a Certificate of Distinction 2 Nos. of Merit Awards: HK$ 500 and a Certificate of Merit Assessment Panel Members: Professor Andrew Baldwin, Professor L.Y. Shen, Professor Heng Li, Dr. Francis Wong, Dr. Albert Chan and Dr. Eddie Hui Submission deadline : 31st May 2003 Announcement of the result *: 15th June 2003 * If you are final-year students but not the members of the Chapter and would like to join the Competition, you are welcome to register for membership at our website: www.bre.polyu.edu.hk/cibsc.
