SOS • All campuses should have their ACT report • Westchester and Nassau administered SOS this fall – need to update sector means • SPSS code sent to campuses (contact Gary Blose if you don’t have it) • Gary beginning our Factor Analysis • SOS metrics now included in Presidential Evaluation • Next SOS administration Spring 2009

National Post-secondary Student Aid Study (NPSAS 98) • July 1, 2007 – June 30, 2008 undergraduate students • Campuses sends list to RTI w/o identifying info • RTI selects sample & notifies campus • Campus provides RTI info on academic work & financial aid package of study population (including identifying info) • RTI surveys students directly • Sample: 50-300 students depending on enrollments • Four campuses in pilot study this year: Alfred Ceramics, Brockport, Delhi, & Old Westerbury

IPEDS • Winter window closes January 24th • Enrollments/Finance/Employees • CC’s may complete Finance during Spring • Spring collection opens March 8th • GRS, Student Fin Aid, CC Finance • Data changes in the future: • First-Professional • Characteristics & Enrollments: Optional 2008/09/Mandatory 2009/10 • Completions – Optional 2009-10/Mandatory 2010/11 • Race/Ethnicity • Mandatory in 2009/10 or 2010/11

Fall SDF/EOT • SDFs due at the end of the semester/term except in the fall • In fall, campuses submit an official SDF early November and an optional EOT at the end of the semester • EOT contains late starting courses • SUNY combines the SDF & EOT file • EOT due Feb 9th (we’ll work with campuses but not like last year)

  7. Community College Benchmarking Project (NCCBP) • 26 SUNY CCs participated in 2006 - 152 nation-wide • All CCs in Florida & Tennessee; almost all in Pennsylvania & New York • Registration now open. Go to: www.nccbp.org • If you want SUNY to pay for this again, let Vice Chancellor Golladay know!

  8. Student Clearinghouse SUNY paid the invoice yesterday!!!!

  9. P-16 • SED is conducting a special study to determine feasibility of a public education P-16 database • Parthenon and Bill Gates Foundation conducting study • Pilot test may be submitting some NYSED surveys as unit record data files

  10. Presidential Evaluations • SUNY has developed a new presidential evaluation format • Based on standardized tables maintained by Academic Affairs & Finance • Really helps IR in supporting process • State Operated campuses only!

  11. NASH Initiatives • National Association of System Heads • Two initiatives: • Accountability Reporting • Math Success • Math project requires campus involvement

  12. Enrollment Planning • Now lead by Elizabeth Bringsjord • Early call may be the norm for SO campuses in the future (September with update in December) • Community colleges to continue on the Spring cycle • Presentation at June AIRPO?

  13. Teacher Certification Examination Database • Purpose to assist teacher ed programs gain accreditation • SUNY IR will update database annually • Local IR gatekeeper of protected discs • Maintain discs and non-disclosure agreements • Discs without protected data may be used freely

  14. Course Re-design • Focus on multi-section introductory courses • 15 courses account for almost half lower division SCH & Faculty Contact Hours • Many of these courses are “killer” courses • Grants help campuses re-design courses (using technology) to improve student success • Trustees/campus academic leaders received a presentation about this program

Consortium for Student Retention Data Exchange (CSRDE) • Share aggregate retention and graduation data – 440 institutions last year • 1998-2004 First-time Full-time cohorts last year • This year 1999-2005 • Data comparisons: • Institutional size • Selectivity • Demographics • SUNY participation: 2 doctoral & 6 comprehensive • Cost: probably less than $300
