  2. Side effects of marijuana When using marijuana for medical or recreational purposes, most people do not take time to understand what side effect they might encounter after use. All they want to have is a good time or a cure for whatever illness, regardless of what they have to do to get it. It is best when using marijuana to treat it like a drug which has side effects; psychological and physical. If you do so and control your use, you will be safe for a very long time. Short term side effects of marijuana include: Some side effects of using and overdosing on marijuana could be temporary and short, but they trigger long term side effect which could be dangerous to the user if not checked immediately. These symptoms include:

  3. 1.Depression. This could be an issue for those using marijuana for PTSD and other depression related disorders. Marijuana works in a very funny way. It can be used to treat depression, if only it is used in a controlled and supervised manner. But if abused, it could lead the patient into deep depression. 2.Sensory distortion: sensory distortion can be an easy side effect, affecting marijuana users. This could lead to the brain rearranging and interpreting visuals, thoughts or noise differently. 3. Anxiety and panic attacks. Panic and anxiety attacks could be experienced when a user gets too excited and uses more than he can control naturally. For new users, this is a regular symptom, which gets weaned off with time. In rare cases it doesn’t and it is advisable that the user discontinues marijuana use immediately. 4. Lower reaction time: reaction time when an external stimulus is introduced to a person’s environment or body differs from person to person.Reaction tine can be enhanced when the individual’s mind is sharp. Marijuana as we know is a psychoactive drug which could impede the sharpness of the mind and brain. Over time this could be a common occurrence for a user.

Long term side effects of marijuana: Most short term effects of marijuana leads to long term effects. These effects could lead to severe damage of organs in the body and worst case scenario, death. These long term effects include: Suppressed immune system: The immune system is wired in a way to prevent the body from falling ill at exposure to pathogens. When this is compromised, the immune system becomes dormant and this is what marijuana use could lead to. Once noticed, this should be dealt with immediately. Growth disorders: this usually happens to teenagers who use marijuana. At this point they are growing and need all to ensure this is successful. Marijuana could impede growth, leading to growth disorders. Reduction of the male sex hormones and sexual capacity: Testosterone the male sex hormone production can be reduced when marijuana is abused.

  5. Learning disabilities: The psychoactive nature of marijuana can lead to a slower learning process because it might take a longer time for the brain to process new things. Lack of motivation: marijuana is known to cause body weakness; this eventually leads to lack of motivation. It is best to use marijuana when users have nothing much to do and needs to relax. Swift mood changes: Happy-sad-happy again-sad-angry can be the mood swing pattern of a marijuana user and it could happen in a very swift manner. This could be avoided if marijuana use is controlled. Lung issues: This is the number one issue health practitionershave with marijuana; when smoked anyway. Though lung issues due to marijuana smoking is not as prevalent as it is for tobacco smoker, but it happens. To prevent this, a user can change the method of use to ingestion. Marijuana can be a source of healing and pleasure only if used in a controlled manner to prevent the side effects associated with it. Users should be careful to know when they have overstepped their boundaries when it comes to marijuana use and retrace their steps to a to a healthy marijuana lifestyle.
