Container Number Database (CNDB) • Serves as FDOT’s commercial vehicle data warehouse • Captures All Weigh Station Data • Processes CVIDNs for: • Overdue Citations, Federal OOS Carriers, Stolen Vehicles and custom watch lists • Triggers real-time notification and email • Agency and custom watch list • Checks database at time of creation and continues to check new incoming sightings data from readers for matches

  14. Smart Interconnected Weigh Station System • The Department is determining how to interconnect several system relating to commercial vehicles • The benefit to the trucking community would be huge • The following will provide a high level overview of what is being explored.

Smart Interconnected Weigh Station System • As a truck enters the scales we already know the following: • Vehicle length and height • Number of axles and spacing • Weight on each axle/axle group • Gross weight • License Plate Number • US DOT Number • Etc….. How do we use this data more effectively?

Smart Interconnected Weigh Station System • The Department is looking at the following: • How do we use the data to bypass trucks • Once the vehicle weight is verified in the system allow the trucks to bypass additional weigh stations as long as they are in a certain window of time • Use mainline technology to process vehicles • Use mainline WIMs, LPRs, and USDOT readers to process vehicles and make sort decisions on the mainline, keeping trucks moving at highway speeds

  18. Smart Interconnected Weigh Station System • Presently permitted loads are required to enter every weigh station • The Department is looking at the following: • How can we identify permitted loads electronically • Once validated, for permit conditions, how can we bypass permitted vehicles

Future – Facility Assessment • Conduct an Asset Inventory and Condition Assessment on Interstate Weigh Stations including: • Roadway Items: • Pavement conditions (roadway and parking), pavement marking conditions, drainage, lighting and signing • Property: • Scale Control Buildings, Inspection Barns (including Public Restroom Facilities), and all support infrastructure that support the site and operation of the Weigh Station • Technology • Inventory deployments, review functionality, develop life cycle costing for equipment
