  5. No matter what one's religion, almost every Vietnamese household will maintain an altar to worship the ancestors. Vietnamese believes in the life after death. They believe the deceased has a power that can bring good fortune to the living people. Living members in family can be protected from accident by the ancestors. In return, ancestors will be commemorated and worshiped by their present generations. That is the reason why nearly every house, office, and business in Vietnam has a small altar which is used to commune with ancestors.

  6. Another traditional element is the placing of wooden tablets on the altar for each of the ancestors over recent generations. This is less rigorously observed today, and tablets are often replaced by photographs

  10. Hanoi public art Ho Chi Minh City's colonial attractions are sprinkled around District 1, with the Reunification Palace looking down tree-lined Le Duan Boulevard where you'll find the Notre Dame Cathedral and the city's Central Post Office. The War Remnants Museum recounts a tumultuous time in 20th-century Vietnamese history, documenting both the atrocities of the war and the aftermath of the conflict. Agent Orange was a horrific toxic chemical that the US Army used during The American War. For a decade, it was dropped from planes with the aim of destroying forest coverage and farmland used by the Vietnamese people. Up to four million people were exposed to it and around one million Vietnamese now suffer from serious health issues because of it. In 2020 U.S. and Vietnamese governments developed a 10-year remediation plan for the environmental and health damage attributed to a dioxin contained in Agent Orange and other herbicides sprayed over much of the southern portion of the country
