  1. Ion Petru Pop (Romanian, 1942– 2015) 

  2. Ion Petru Pop (1942-2015) born 1942 in the village Cheia Turzii (Cluj county), graduated Fine Arts University - graphics - in Cluj Napoca in 1966. He has been a member of the Romanian Artists’ Union since 1968. Without having a vocation for traditionalism but being steady and exigent in all he makes he promotes easel graphics realized by mixed technique. He makes both advertising and review graphics. Since 1967 his works has been exhibited at county-, national and international exhibitions, his works being in private collections in Hungary, Austria, Germany, Belgium, Holland and the USA. About the works from the cycle called “ETERNITY OF THE STONE he says: “As a product of the artistic genius the sculptured stone brought Gods to the Earth and gave people Gods’ aura. Stone - as a material - and time have been both allies and enemies but time by its work of demolition hasn't been able to destroy the stone just to transform it. But its spirit remains imperturbable in its petrified forms hiding secretly long and immense human suffering. Stroked gently by the rays of light the stone shows us a universe in which an eternal state of daydreaming is re-born perpetually.” Ion Petru Pop (1942-2015) s-a născut la 18 martie 1942, la Cheia, jud. Cluj. Absolvent al Universităţii de Artă şi Design „Ion Andreescu”, Cluj-Napoca, secţia grafică, promoţia 1966. Membru UAP din 1968, a participat începând din 1967 la Saloane judeţene şi republicane, expoziţii de grup în ţară şi străinătate.

  34. Ca produs al geniului artistic, piatra modelată a adus zeii pe pământ și a dat oamenilor aură de zei. Ca materie a fost deopotrivă în alianță dar și în dușmănie cu timpul care, în trufia lui nevazută, nu a reușit să o distrugă ci să o remodeleze. Spiritul său, însă, se păstrează imperturbabil, ascunzând discret în formele sale încremenite o lungă și imensă durere umană; mângâiată cu blândețe da razele de lumină divină, piatra ni se înfățișează, ca un tărâm în care renaște perpetum o eternă stare de reverie și nădejde.
