  2. Născut în1955 în Miercurea Nirajului, artistul Gyarmathy János este absolvent al Institutului de Arte Plastice „Ion Andreescu”, Cluj Napoca, promoţia 1980, secţia sculptură. Numeroasele expoziţii interne şi internaţionale, personale sau de grup, lucrările aflate în colecţii particulare şi cele de for civic, îl impun ca pe unul dintre cei mai valoroşi şi apreciaţi sculptori ai urbei mureşene. Distincții:1980 - Premiul de sculptură al oraşului Târgu-Mureş;1981 - Premiul al III-lea;1983 - Premiul I al Salonului de umor de la Târgu-Mureş;1992 - Marele Premiu al Simpozionului de Plastică Mică de la Nyiregyháza, Ungaria;1997 - Premiul pentru sculptură al Breslei Barábas Miklós, Târgu-Mureş
