  3. Cologne Cathedral is a Roman Catholic church, the seat of the Archbishop of Cologne. It is a renowned monument of German Catholicism and Gothic architecture and is a World Heritage Site. In World War II, the city center of Cologne was leveled by bombings; the Cathedral was the only building that survived.
