Mr Don Munro • 10 years in Industry; 28 years in Universities (CSU Wagga and UNSW@ADFA) • Active in consultancies • Active in Course design & review committees both at University and CIT (TAFE) • Designed and delivers the Enterprise Architecture course as part of the Doctorate in Business Informatics for DPU University in Bangkok, Thailand

Mr James Sheridan; died 27 May 2006 • Employment - PSP working for Defence from SMS Management and Technology • Background – BA, DBA, Service Management, Systems Admin, Modelling and EA tools • Industry Experience – Defence (Ex Army 22 years), HR and Finance Systems, Aircraft Maintenance, Engineering Services • Interests – Horses, EA, Astronomy

Points to note • Diploma Level – target for “power users” in the context of the application of Enterprise Architecture principles and tools • Diploma course covers appropriate Enterprise Background to the application of the tools to a situation • Also, specifically to the “tools” used involving package mastery (Systems Architect)

The National Training Framework • System of VET that applies nationally • Nationally consistent industry-led system designed to: • provide high quality skill outcomes to maintain individuals’ employability and increase their productivity • provide for nationally recognised qualifications • improve the competitiveness of industry and the nation. The National Training Framework Achieves four main outcomes: • National recognition system based on competency standards linked to national qualifications • Industry Training Packages as a basis for tailoring training programs • Quality management checkpoints to ensure high standards of training systems (AQTF) • High level of flexibility for training organisations to deliver high quality training products and services to meet the needs of employers EA Recognition Session 2006

  16. The DLSN • The Defence Learning Services Network (DLSN) is a Registered Training Organisation within the National Training Framework. • It is one of four RTO within the Australian Defence Organisation - DLSN, Navy, Army and Air Force. EA Recognition Session 2006

Qualifications • The DLSN issues Statements of Attainment and qualifications within its scope of registration across: • Certificate III • Certificate IV • Diploma - Diploma of Government (Enterprise Architecture) • Advanced Diploma – Advanced Diploma of Government (Enterprise Architecture) EA Recognition Session 2006

Qualifications • Statements of Attainment (SOA)SOA are used to record the attainment of one or more units of competency towards a qualification. • QualificationsOnce all the requirements of a qualification are met one is issued • Candidates who hold SOA and qualifications from DLSN or other RTO can use the units of competency in them again towards other qualifications. What is Recognition? • Process of recognising existing knowledge, skills and experience acquired by previous training, work and life experience • Done by collecting evidence and making a judgement against the requirements of one or more units of competency from a Training Package - Public Sector Training Package (PSP04).
