  1. ABT Maintenance Management Summary ABTEF 16/05/204 T. Fowler

  2. Summary ABT has a very diverse and heterogeneous set of equipment and systems. Populations of identical parts and sub-systems are typically small ( maximum few hundred and few tens respectively) which makes it difficult to employ standard statistical reliability analyses. Nevertheless, ABT already uses a mix of the four different Maintenance Management strategies. To improve equipment availability we should aim for a progressive move from Corrective to Preventive/Risk-based/Condition-based maintenance. This would be best facilitated by employing elements of a Computer-aided Maintenance Management System (CMMS) such as those that are being proposed within the CERN MMP framework.

  3. MMP proposed CMMS tools I. RUEHL … shall serve the groups who have already achieved an advanced maturity level in their maintenance processes, as well as those groups who rely today on more basic procedures. … shall be efficient and flexible enough to cope with the various needs. … guiding the maintenance stakeholders to a common approach and best practices.

  4. Infor EAM – the CERN CMMS D. Widegren 3D CADCATIA Design datamanagement Manufacturing follow-up Installation follow-up Maintenance management Data publishing Workflow actions Infor EAM is integrated in our Engineering Data Management platform

  5. CMMS Data requirements • A Functional Position structure (in the Layout database) to define equipment slots in all machines. • This has been done only for the PSB so far and is limited to EK and TK kicker equipment • Progress is limited by available ABT resources (very time-consuming) and by reactivity of Layout Database team (progressively better) • A Machine-based node structure in EDMS • Already defined • Only sparsely populated with data • Physical item data in MTF • Only very sparsely populated with data • Legacy data presents an enormous problem • 10,000’s of engineering drawings in dfs • Bulk upload tools exist in MMP but still require substantial input from ABT • For new data Kamil has developed a web interface to integrate in our Sharepoint which will facilitate input and retrieval of engineering data to and from EDMS

  6. Next Steps? • Continue to implement thyratron tracking in INFOR EAM • Continue development of Acctesting for LBDS and, if successful, implement for other safety-critical systems • Analyse requirements for traceability of items • Granularity • Number of parts, assemblies, sub-assemblies, etc. • Review the situation after the MMP review

  7. Next Steps? Questions ? Comments ? Suggestions ?
