  5. This is true • The “Kindness” department in the church is the Community Services Department.

  6. IMPORTANT • When there is a crusade plan for your church the Community Services Department should be up front with the Field preparations. • Don’t wait until you are asked! Let your Pastor or Elder know this:

  7. Meeting felt needs in a community will do a lot to break down the prejudices of the people and draw them to hear the gospel.

  8. What are some of these Needs?

  9. Do you just move into a community and decide that you are going to give out food baskets?

  10. Crusade Work Segments • Pre crusade work • Work during the crusade • Work after the crusade (Conservation) • In which segment(s) should Community Services Worker participate?

  11. A testimony from Billy Graham Team Member • “One of the strengths of the Billy Graham crusade team is in their ability to organize the pre-campaign work…Many of these activities are designed to address felt needs in the community”

  12. Ellen G. White • “Christ method alone will give true success in reaching people. Jesus mingled with men as one who desired their good. He showed His sympathy for them, ministered to their needs and won their confidence. Then He asked them follow Him.” DA pg. 340

  13. Needs-related event that involved Jesus • Luke 5:1-11 • Luke 5:11 And when they had brought their ships to land, they forsook all, and followed him. • (MSG) They pulled their boats up on the beach, left them, nets and all, and followed him.

  14. This is what I believe • A church that has a strong ministry through Community Services will make a great impact on that community. Most people will be willing to listen to a church that not only preaches salvation by grace, but is actively identified with the social needs and concerns of humanity.
