Fax. What is Fax. Fax is at a very basic level, a printer. A Fax machine receives a message through a telephone line and printers the text or image. Advantages. It’s much safer to send a message over a telephone line to a Fax machine rather than over the internet.

  2. What is Fax • Fax is at a very basic level, a printer. • A Fax machine receives a message through a telephone line and printers the text or image.

  3. Advantages • It’s much safer to send a message over a telephone line to a Fax machine rather than over the internet. • Also, in business, electronic signature's are not recognized by the law whereas a Fax copy is recognized by the law.

  4. Limitations • The Fax machine takes up space. • The Fax machine needs to be turned on. (May loose Fax’s otherwise) • Harder to store the data received. (Paper printouts) • Can waste paper. • E-mail is faster, easier and more eco-friendly.

  5. Uses • Can be used to send signature's via a phone line. • Mainly used by businesses for sending/ receiving documentation. • Can be used at home as a source of communication.
