Welcome to Miss Davidove's 8th grade Language Arts class! With a background in psychology and education, students will focus on narrative, argumentative, and informational writing, as well as grammar and usage.   2. About me • Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Rutgers University • Masters Degrees in Elementary and Special Education from Rutgers University • Specialization in Middle School Language Arts Literacy • Student teaching internship in Chatham • 4th Grade Inclusion

Course highlights • Writing: • Narrative writing • Argumentative writing • Informational/explanatory writing • Grammar and usage: • Simple, compound, complex, and compound-complex sentences • Capitalization and punctuation • Commas • Spelling • Conventional spelling • Spelling patterns and generalizations

  4. What will my students be graded on? • Tests = 35% of their MP grade • Quizzes = 25% of their MP grade • Lowest quiz grade will be dropped • Classwork = 25% of their MP grade • Homework = 10% of their MP grade • 2 lowest homework grades will be dropped • Posted on my website every night • Participation = 5% of their MP grade • Being prepared for class • Participating in class discussions

Expectations for my students • High expectations for all of my students • Positive expectations for all my students • Should always be prepared for class • Homework, assignment pad, writing utensil, writing journals, binder, paper • Ready to learn • Engaged • Focused • Respectful of each other
