  1. ATTENTION! Have you been having unsafe sex? You might have Kaposi’s Sarcoma! Check it out.

  2. What does it have to do with unsafe sex? Kaposi’s Sarcoma is often associated with AIDS and HIV! Why should I be worried about Kaposi’s Sarcoma? KS is a cancerous tumor of the connective tissue. It effects your dermis!

  3. How do I know if I have it? • Bluish-red or purple bumps on the skin • Sometimes causes you to cough up blood • Shortness of breath Do you have any of these things?

  4. What causes this disease? • People with AIDS can get it if they are interacted with HIV and have a weakened immune system. • If you have had a kidney or other organ transplants then you are at high risk for getting this! If you think this is you, go get it checked out!

  5. Can they cure it?.....YES! They will use either: • Antiviral therapy against AIDS • Combination chemotherapy • Cyrotherapy (freeze it off) • Radiation therapy But keep looking out, the bumps may return after treatment!

  6. What would happen if I didn’t get it treated? • This can be deadly for someone with AIDS! • In African children it spreads through lymph nodes and vital organs and QUICKLY becomes deadly.

  7. Do you want to know more? • Without including patients that got it from AIDS, it was mainly found in elderly Italian men. • Safe sex practices can prevent HIV which prevents AIDS and Kaposi’s Sarcoma. • During the late 1980’s and early 1990’s, one in four homosexual men developed this cancer.
