Essential Question #1 • Why is data collected and analyzed? • Standard: Sampling and Experimentation: S-CI.7 • Select a method to collect data and plan and conduct surveys and experiments Lesson: • Create a mock census within the class • Shows real world example of why statistics is necessary • Helps the class learn more about each other

Essential Question #2 • How can predictions be made based on data? • Standard: Sampling and Experimentation S-CI.12 • Develop and evaluate inferences and predictions that are based on data Lesson: • Use the data the class collected from their census and compare it to classes in the past (provided by the teacher) • Based on patterns of students in each of the classes, students can infer what type of dynamic the teacher should be able to see in the coming years
