  2. The census is the official count of how many people and dwellingswe have in New Zealand. Information from the census helps determine how billions of dollars of government funding is spent in the community. The census is held once every five years. Census

  3. How does the Census help me? • Resources are allocated to provide your whanau with education, health, housing and transport • If you are not counted your whanau may miss out on vital services • You are missing out on services that belong to you – YOU COUNT!

Northland Under Counted • Estimated at least 3000 people not ever counted • Each person is worth $3000 of population health funding every year • That’s 10 Million dollars we are not allocated from central government every year for healthcare • This does not include funding for other services such as education, transport and roading

  5. How safe is my information? • Personal information is not shared. • No other organisations – including the New Zealand Police, Immigration Service, or Inland Revenue – can obtain information from us that identifies you.

  6. How do I take part? • You can do your forms online or on paper. • Doing your forms online is secure, quick and easy • If everyone in your household does their forms online a collector may not need to call back.

  7. How do I take part? • You can do your forms in English or Māori • Guide notes available • Information leaflet in 22 languages • Helpline languages in Cantonese, Hindi, Korean, Mandarin, Maori, Samoan and Tongan

Be Counted • Kai Hiwa ra, Kai Hiwa ra (Be aware, Be alert) • Everyone counted is worth $3000 per person, per year to provide health services – potentially 10 million dollars every year to provide the health services you need • Being COUNTED funds services for your future • Being counted benefits you, your tamariki, your kaumatua and Kuia • You are missing out on services if you are not counted • Better health, better education, better roads, better transport for Northland
