  3. Term 0 and rate of change • The term 0 is what your pattern starts with. My term 0 is 3 beans. • My rate of change effects the growth of the total number of beans because it increases by 3 each term.

  5. Algebraic rule • The algebraic rule that describes my pattern increases by 3 each time. So my equation would be • Y=3x+3

  6. Sketch of Terms (color-coded) Term 0 Term 1 Term 2 Term 3 The connection between the red beans and the Y-Intercept is that my original beans always stay the same and so does my Y-Intercept.

  7. Sketch of Terms (color-coded part 2) Term 0 Term 1 Term 2 Term 3 The connection between the green beans and the rate of change is my green beans increase by the same amount each time and my rate of change does the same thing.

  8. Slope Intercept Formula • Y=mx+b • M is the slope/rate of change and b is the y-intercept.

  9. My Equation • Y=3x+3 • I know that my equation makes sense because when I test my equation on the numbers in my table it makes complete sense. When I multiply my x values by 3 and then add 3 I get what ever number corresponds in the y column. For example one set of points was (4,15) so when I multiply4 and 3 Iget 12, and then Iadd 3 to get 15. My colors make sense because the rate of change has to be green, and it is. And my y-intercept has to be red, and it is. My colors are the same all throughout the whole presentation.
