  • Their life forms are pastoral
  • They herd camels and sometimes sheep, goats, and cattle.
  • They eat dairy products, milk, and meat.
  • Their language is mostly Bedouin Arabic
  • Bedouins are mostly Muslims but there are small groups of Christians in Palestine and Syria.

  • “Bedouins are organized according to patrilinear corporate groups.”
  • They define themselves as members of tribes and families.
  • The defined groups are headed by shavks, or elders which is a position that is passed down from father to son.
  • Bedouins are divided into social classes depending on ancestry and profession.
  • Marriage is difficult for a man and a woman with different classes.
