  3. Provides funding through the Landfill Communities Fund £85 million allocated to more than 3000 projects since 1997 Funding is distributed in England, Scotland and Wales In 2011, SITA Trust supported 212 projects with over £9.2 million

  6. What kind of projects ARE supported? CAPITAL grants to support physical improvements to community leisure/ recreation amenities and historic buildings. Building works – materials, contractor costs Not: salaries, professional fees, marketing or promotions costs, education or training, cost of service provision, events

  7. Who USES FACILITY? Everyone ! Building or amenity must be primarily for general community use and must benefit a wide number and range of users. Must be open to the general public at least 104 days per year.

  8. can ANYONE apply? • Project site must be within a SITA Trust funding zone - There are 90 and in Suffolk the funding zone lies around Great Blakenham… (more later!) • Applying organisation must be not-for-profit, own the site or have a 10 year lease in place • Charities, community groups, local authorities and councils can apply.

  9. How much can we ask for? Core Fund Up to £60,000 Gross project size <£250k Three funding rounds per year Fast Track Fund Up to £20,000 Maximum gross project size £40k 60 days from application deadline to notification Six funding rounds per year

Funding zones • There are 90 funding zones in England, Scotland and Wales • A funding zone is anywhere within 3 miles of a qualifying SITA UK waste processing location • In Suffolk our funding zone is within 3 miles of Great Blakenham, postcode IP6 0PS • The wards of Whitton, Castle Hill and Whitehouse are all within the funding zone • Postcode checker on www.sitatrust.org.uk/postcode-checker

Queen Elizabeth II Fields Fund In partnership with HRH Prince William and Fields in Trust 2012 playing fields will be designated as QEII fields by Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in June 2012 QEII fields access £1m improvement fund set up by SITA Trust Grants of up to £25,000 per field England wide programme

  18. Young Persons Volunteering Fund

  19. What kind of projects ARE supported? Up to £10,000 towards materials and support for youth-led volunteering to improve community leisure facilities or green spaces. Small proportion of management costs can be included if they relate directly to on the ground project delivery.

  20. What we are looking for • Young people must design and implement project • Project must benefit the whole community – must be at accessible facility. • Project site can be anywhere in England or Wales

  21. can ANYONE apply? • Project site can be anywhere in England or Wales – programme therefore is Suffolk wide • Applying organisation must be not-for-profit and fully involve young people in the design AND delivery of the project. • Group must have permission from the owner of the site to carry out works. • Charities, community groups, local authorities and councils can apply.

  24. Programme overview • Provides funding for on the ground conservation projects that support a UK BAP species or habitat. • Provides grants up to £120,000 (no upper project limit) • 9 biodiversity regions – 9 regional assessment panels, 9 regional funding ‘pots’ • Ultimate funding decision by SITA Trust’s Board • Three funding rounds per year, 2010-2012 total fund value in excess of £10m • Making real impacts over £20m committed. • Project site(s)can be anywhere in England
