Yağlı ve yağsız olarak iki tipi vardır. Pistonlu Kompresörler:Kompresörün krankına bağlı kolların hareket etmesiyle emme ve basma supapları yardımıyla hava depolanır. Bunlarda kendi aralarında Yağsız Hava Kompresörleri. Tek Kademeli Hava Kompresörleri, İki Kademeli Hava Kompresörleri, Yüksek Basınç Gemi Kompresörleri, Alçak Basınç Silobas Kompresörleri şeklinde sınıflara ayrılır.
