  7. Keypad • The keypad contains 31 individual keys, 17 with multiple functions, 14 with a single function. 06/06/2011 #7

  8. Keypad - 4040 • All 4040s with S/N 01xxx and some with S/N 02xxx have a keyboard like the one shown at the right. This configuration uses a “Main Menu” key in the upper right-hand corner. 06/06/2011 #8

  9. Keypad – 4040CE • Some 4040s with S/N 02xxx and all 4040s with S/N 03xxx have a keyboard like the one shown at the right. This configuration uses a “REBOOT” key in the upper right-hand corner. 06/06/2011 #9

  10. Keypad - 4040 • The MAIN MENU key is used to reset the analyzer and initialize a warm boot which will return you to the main menu. 06/06/2011 #10

  12. Keypad The point being, whether you have a Main Menu key or a Reboot key, they behave the same. They will reboot the analyzer then return you to the Main Menu. 06/06/2011 #12

  13. Keypad The ON / OFF key controls the power to the main board. Press the key once to turn the power ON or OFF. 06/06/2011 #13

  14. Keypad • The two contrast keys allow the user to adjust screen contrast any time the analyzer is on. 06/06/2011 #14

  15. Keypad • There are five (F1 through F5) function keys located directly below the screen. The function of the keys is identified directly above each key in the active screen. Functions are dynamic according to need. 06/06/2011 #15

  18. Keypad • The alphanumeric keys are multi functional. 10 keys have a single number (1 to 0) as well as three other characters (A through Z, plus *, (, ),?, and ). 06/06/2011 #18

  19. Keypad • There are two additional character keys, the “. @ % #” and the “SPACE + / -” These keys supplement the text keys for data entry in jobs and setups. 06/06/2011 #19

  20. Keypad • The [BACKUP] key is used to backup one screen or to the previous logical step in a job or setup. You may use this key to backup as many steps as necessary back to the Main Menu. Be aware that data may be lost if you use this method. 06/06/2011 #20

  21. Keypad • The [ENTER] key is used to accept data into an active screen or field. It is also the typical key pressed to advance to the next logical step in a process and to set a function in motion. 06/06/2011 #21

  23. Keypad • There are four arrow keys, Right [⇒], Up [⇑], Left [⇐], and Down [⇓]. These are used for navigating throughout the analyzer. 06/06/2011 #23

  24. LCD Screen • The Viper screen is 3.85 wide X 2.9 inches high (320 x 240 Pixels). It has a controlled (ON/OFF) backlight and anti glare coating. It is polarized and will appear black if viewed through polarized sunglasses at right angles. 06/06/2011 #24

  25. Input and Output Ports The top connector panel consist of 9 ports: 4 tachometer, four vibration and one Aux Comm. 06/06/2011 #25

  26. Input and Output Ports • The connectors are MS type, quarter turn locking. There are 4 three pin tachometer socket, 4 six pin vibration socket, and a single six pin plug for the Aux / Comm. 06/06/2011 #26

  27. Input and Output Ports • The Side Connector panel is on the left side of the analyzer and has three ports: 1 strobe, 1 USB and 1 Batt/Chg. The strobe is a 4 pin socket, the USB a 4 pin plug, and the NiCd Batt/Chg a two pin or three pin ¼ turn plug. 06/06/2011 #27

  28. Input and Output Ports • The Side Connector panel is on the left side of the analyzer and has three ports: 1 strobe, 1 USB and 1 Batt/Chg. The strobe is a 4 pin socket, the USB a 4 pin plug, and the NiMH Batt/Chg a three pin threaded plug. 06/06/2011 #28

  29. Batteries (S/N 01xxx) • If the Analyzer is powered by an internal 12V Nickel Cadmium (NiCd) battery (S/N 01xxx). Time to charge is 8 to 10 hours from dead to full charge. The battery will optimally provide power to the analyzer for 4 to 6 hours on a full charge. This time is decreased with higher loads on the analyzer such as the laser tachometer or multiple sensors. NOTE:The battery should always be depleted completely before recharging to prevent battery memory problems. See the user manual for complete details on charging the battery. 06/06/2011 #29

  30. Batteries (S/N 02xxx) • If the Analyzer is powered by an internal 12V 2.6mAh Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) battery (S/N 02xxx). Time to charge is approximately 4 hours from dead to full charge. The battery will optimally provide power to the analyzer for 6 to 8 hours on a full charge. This time is decreased with higher loads on the analyzer such as the laser tachometer or multiple sensors. • The battery can be charged in any state and left on the charger indefinitely. 06/06/2011 #30

  31. Batteries (S/N 03xxx) • If the Analyzer is powered by an internal 12V 4.7mAh Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) battery (S/N 03xxx). Time to charge is approximately 4 hours from dead to full charge. The battery will optimally provide power to the analyzer for ~10 hours on a full charge. This time is decreased with higher loads on the analyzer such as the laser tachometer or multiple sensors. • The battery can be charged in any state and left on the charger indefinitely. 06/06/2011 #31

  32. Additional Equipment • The NiCd Battery Charger requires either 120VAC, 60Hz, or 220VAC, 50Hz input and produces a 12VDC, 800mA output. The analyzer connector end is an MS quarter turn locking type. The cord from the charger head to the outlet is available in either 120V or 220V models. 06/06/2011 #32

  33. Additional Equipment • The NiMH Battery Charger requires either 120VAC, 60Hz, or 220VAC, 50Hz input and produces a 19VDC, 800mA output. The analyzer connector end is an MS threaded locking type. The cord from the charger head to the outlet is available in either 120V or 220V models. 06/06/2011 #33

  34. Additional Equipment • The USB Communications Cable has a standard Type A USB connector at one end with a four socket MS connector at the opposite end. It is used for USB communication between the analyzer and the computer (the computer must be running AvTrend software). 06/06/2011 #34

  35. Additional Equipment • The optional Serial Communications Cable is a standard Laplink cable with a DB9 and DB25 connector at one end and a six pin MS connector at the opposite end. It is used for PC serial communications. 06/06/2011 #35

  36. Additional Equipment • The carrying case is made of expanded ABS plastic. It is durable and protects its contents against the elements when closed and latched. It has a limited lifetime warranty from the manufacturer. The warranty does not cover shark bite, bear attack, or children under 5. 06/06/2011 #36

  37. Additional Equipment • The users manual is current when shipped with the Analyzer. The manual is on paper in a three ring binder allowing pages to be removed and replaced as necessary when changes occur. 06/06/2011 #37

  41. Using the Keypad • The multi function keys will insert any of the characters of the key into the current alphanumeric field. The first character is installed by a single press. 06/06/2011 #41

  42. Using the Keypad • The second character is inserted by two rapid presses, the third character by three rapid presses, and so on. 06/06/2011 #42

  43. Using the Keypad • To insert two or more characters from the same key (11, A1, BC, for example) press the key the number of times necessary for the first character on the key. Then wait two seconds. 06/06/2011 #43

  44. Using the Keypad • Press the key the number of times necessary for the second character, wait two seconds, and so on. • To skip the two second delay, press the [⇒] key. 06/06/2011 #44

  45. Using the Keypad • Some keys have a single function which is executed by a single key press. The ON/OFF, Main Menu and the two contrast keys are examples of single function keys. 06/06/2011 #45

  46. Accessing Main Menu Items • When the main menu is displayed, use the [][] keys to highlight an item, then press [ENTER] to execute the selection. 06/06/2011 #46

  47. Entering License #(Optional Functions) • From the Main Menu, select: Miscellaneous Items | Analyzer Information | Then press the [F2] “License” key. • Use the [] key to move from field-to-field…. 06/06/2011 #47
