  1. ? Israel (Is modern day Israel the Israel of GOD)

  2. The American people are buying into this because they do not recognize Israel’s relationship to history, to the word of God, and to what they mean to America as a democracy. America should stand by Israel because Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East. Israel has been America’s friend who votes with us more in the UN than any other Nation. Israel also has a very unique relationship with a super power that a secular society in America does not recognize, and that would be God Almighty. God has created Israel. God said, “I am the defender of Israel, for he that keepth Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps.” God has said through the prophet Joel that any nation (that would include America) who tries to divide the land of Israel, or the city of Jerusalem will be brought to judgment, therefore, it is very clear to say that the day that America turns its back on Israel God will turn its back on America. – John Hagee Glenn Beck Program April 5 2011.

  3. I think about one of the most disaterous decisions we are going to make. And you can mark it down, when we turn our back on Israel we will not escape the judgment of God. And that is exactly the tone we are hearing out of Washington. You say, “Well, Israel is just that little old piece of land over there. What is so significant about that? God, He said, “I bless those who bless you and I will punish those who do otherwise.” It is a dangerous thing to turn away from Israel, yet, that is exactly the tone we are hearing and I just want to say to you, mark it down… - Charles Stanley In Touch–Turning the Tide

  4. ? Israel (Is modern day Israel the Israel of GOD) - The Promise To Abraham.

  5. The origin of the nation of Israel goes back to three promises that God made to Abraham: 1 Now the LORD had said to Abram: "Get out of your country, From your family And from your father's house, To a land that I will show you. 2 I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.“ – Genesis 12:1-3. Land Promise Nation Promise Blessing Promise

  6. The question now is, “Have these promises from God to Abraham been fulfilled, or are they yet to come?” The promises that God made to Abraham have all been fulfilled. Land Promise The “nation” and “land” promise was fulfilled, (Joshua 1:1-5). Nation Promise Blessing Promise

  7. 1 After the death of Moses the servant of the LORD, it came to pass that the LORD spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' assistant, saying: 2 "Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them-the children of Israel. 3 "Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses. 4 "From the wilderness and this Lebanon as far as the great river, the River Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the Great Sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your territory. 5 "No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you. – Joshua 1:1-5. c.f. Joshua 21:43-45.

  8. The descendants of Abraham became a “great nation” and possess the “land” that God promised: Abraham (Gen. 15:13-16) Isaac Jacob -Israel- (Genesis 32:28) Leah BillahZilpah Rachel Reuben Dan Gad Joseph Simeon Naphtali Asher Benjamin Levi Judah Issachar Zebulun Then the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand men on foot, besides children. - Exodus 12:37.

  9. The question now is, “Have these promises from God to Abraham been fulfilled, or are they yet to come?” The promises that God made to Abraham have all been fulfilled. Land Promise The “nation” and “land” promise was fulfilled, (Joshua 1:1-5). Nation Promise The promise of “blessing” was fulfilled in the hope provided by Jesus the Christ, (Acts 3:22-26). (As we will see, this is the central theme of the Bible) Blessing Promise

  10. 22 "For Moses truly said to the fathers, 'The LORD your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him you shall hear in all things, whatever He says to you. 23 'And it shall be that every soul who will not hear that Prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.‘ 24 "Yes, and all the prophets, from Samuel and those who follow, as many as have spoken, have also foretold these days. 25 "You are sons of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, 'And in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.‘ 26 "To you first, God, having raised up His Servant Jesus, sent Him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from your iniquities.“ – Acts 3:22-26.

  11. ? Israel (Is modern day Israel the Israel of GOD) - The Promise To Abraham. - Israel And The Land.

  12. The promise to Israel was fulfilled, but there were conditions placed upon Israel keeping the land: Early on the children of Israel did not obey God, and they paid the consequences, (Judges 2:1-3).

  13. 1 Then the Angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said: "I led you up from Egypt and brought you to the land of which I swore to your fathers; and I said, 'I will never break My covenant with you. 2 'And you shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; you shall tear down their altars.' But you have not obeyed My voice. Why have you done this? 3 "Therefore I also said, 'I will not drive them out before you; but they shall be thorns in your side, and their gods shall be a snare to you.'“ – Judges 2:1-3.

  14. The promise to Israel was fulfilled, but there were conditions placed upon Israel keeping the land: Early on the children of Israel did not obey God, and they paid the consequences, (Judges 2:1-3). Upon the kingdom being divided, “Israel” (North) “Judah” (South) they suffered for unfaithfulness: - Israel (North) was carried away, 722 BC. (Assyrian)

  15. II Kings 17:7-14 - For so it was that the children of Israel had sinned against the LORD their God, who had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and they had feared other gods, 8 and had walked in the statutes of the nations whom the LORD had cast out from before the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they had made. 9 Also the children of Israel secretly did against the LORD their God things that were not right, and they built for themselves high places in all their cities, from watchtower to fortified city. 10 They set up for themselves sacred pillars and wooden images on every high hill and under every green tree. 11 There they burned incense on all the high places, like the nations whom the LORD had carried away before them; and they did wicked things to provoke the LORD to anger,

  16. 12 for they served idols, of which the LORD had said to them, "You shall not do this thing.“ 13 Yet the LORD testified against Israel and against Judah, by all of His prophets, every seer, saying, "Turn from your evil ways, and keep My commandments and My statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by My servants the prophets.“ 14 Nevertheless they would not hear, but stiffened their necks, like the necks of their fathers, who did not believe in the LORD their God. c.f. Leviticus 26:27-33. Deuteronomy 28:58-64. Deuteronomy 29:24-28. Joshua 23:15-16.

  17. (Assyrian) - Judah (South) was carried away, 605-587 BC. (Babylonian) But in 70 years a remnant returned.

  18. II Chronicles 36:15-21 - And the LORD God of their fathers sent warnings to them by His messengers, rising up early and sending them, because He had compassion on His people and on His dwelling place. 16 But they mocked the messengers of God, despised His words, and scoffed at His prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against His people, till there was no remedy. 17 Therefore He brought against them the king of the Chaldeans, who killed their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion on young man or virgin, on the aged or the weak; He gave them all into his hand. 18 And all the articles from the house of God, great and small, the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king and of his leaders, all these he took to Babylon.

  19. 19 Then they burned the house of God, broke down the wall of Jerusalem, burned all its palaces with fire, and destroyed all its precious possessions. 20 And those who escaped from the sword he carried away to Babylon, where they became servants to him and his sons until the rule of the kingdom of Persia, 21 to fulfill the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed her Sabbaths. As long as she lay desolate she kept Sabbath, to fulfill seventy years. c.f. Jeremiah 3:6-11. Jeremiah 29:10-14. II Samuel 7:11-16.

  20. (Assyrian) - Judah (South) was carried away, 605-587 BC. (Babylonian) But in 70 years a remnant returned. - Jesus taught that Jerusalem and the Temple would be ultimately destroyed. (Romans in 70 AD).

  21. John 4:19-26 - The woman said to Him, "Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet. 20 "Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, and you Jews say that in Jerusalem is the place where one ought to worship.“ 21 Jesus said to her, "Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father. 22 "You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews. 23 "But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. 24 "God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."

  22. 25 The woman said to Him, "I know that Messiah is coming" (who is called Christ). "When He comes, He will tell us all things.“ 26 Jesus said to her, "I who speak to you am He." 37 "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing! 38 "See! Your house is left to you desolate; 39 "for I say to you, you shall see Me no more till you say, 'Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!'“ - Matthew 23:37-39.

  23. 1 Then Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came up to show Him the buildings of the temple. 2 And Jesus said to them, "Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down.“ - Matthew 24:1-2. Matthew 24:15-34 - "Therefore when you see the 'abomination of desolation,' spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place" (whoever reads, let him understand), 16 "then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17 "Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house. 18 "And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes.

  24. 19 "But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! 20 "And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath. 21 "For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 "And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect's sake those days will be shortened. 23 "Then if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Christ!' or 'There!' do not believe it. 24 "For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 25 "See, I have told you beforehand.

  25. 26 "Therefore if they say to you, 'Look, He is in the desert!' do not go out; or 'Look, He is in the inner rooms!' do not believe it. 27 "For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 28 "For wherever the carcass is, there the eagles will be gathered together. 29 "Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 "Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

  26. 31 "And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. 32 "Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. 33 "So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near--at the doors! 34 "Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place.

  27. CONCLUSION

  28. The nation of Israel were a people who were separated to God for the purpose of bringing forth the Christ. The destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans in 70 AD marked the end of the nation of Israel.

  29. NOW as soon as the army had no more people to slay or to plunder, because there remained none to be the objects of their fury, (for they would not have spared any, had there remained any other work to be done,) Caesar gave orders that they should now demolish the entire city and temple, but should leave as many of the towers standing as were of the greatest eminency; that is, Phasaelus, and Hippicus, and Mariamne; and so much of the wall as enclosed the city on the west side. This wall was spared, in order to afford a camp for such as were to lie in garrison, as were the towers also spared, in order to demonstrate to posterity what kind of city it was, and how well fortified, which the Roman valor had subdued; but for all the rest of the wall, it was so Josephus (37-100 AD)

  30. thoroughly laid even with the ground by those that dug it up to the foundation, that there was left nothing to make those that came thither believe it had ever been inhabited. This was the end which Jerusalem came to by the madness of those that were for innovations; a city otherwise of great magnificence, and of mighty fame among all mankind. - Josephus, The Wars of The Jews Book VII, Chapter I, Section I Josephus (37-100 AD)

  31. The nation of Israel were a people who were separated to God for the purpose of bringing forth the Christ. The destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans in 70 AD marked the end of the nation of Israel. The physical nation of Israel will not rise again as a special people unto God. In our next lesson we will see the kingdom (Israel) of God is not physical but spiritual.

  32. 22 "For Moses truly said to the fathers, 'The LORD your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren.

  33. Would you obey the gospel? - Believe, (John 8:24). - Repent, (Luke 13:3). - Confess, (Matthew 10:32-33). - Baptized, (Mark 16:15-16).
