詩篇 123:1-4（上行之诗。） 坐在天上的主啊，我向你举目。看哪，仆人的眼睛怎样望主人的手，使女的眼睛怎样望主母的手，我们的眼睛也照样望耶和华 ─ 我们的神，直到他怜悯我们。耶和华啊，求你怜悯我们，怜悯我们！因为我们被藐视，已到极处。 4 我们被那些安逸人的讥诮和骄傲人的藐视，已到极处。

16:1 耶和華對撒母耳說、我既厭棄掃羅作以色列的王、你為他悲傷要到幾時呢．你將膏油盛滿了角、我差遣你往伯利恆人耶西那裏去、因為我在他眾子之內、預定一個作王的。 • The Lord said to Samuel, “How long will you mourn for Saul, since I have rejected him as king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and be on your way; I am sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem. I have chosen one of his sons to be king.” • 16:2 撒母耳說、我怎能去呢、掃羅若聽見、必要殺我．耶和華說、你可以帶一隻牛犢去、就說、我來是要向耶和華獻祭。 • But Samuel said, “How can I go? If Saul hears about it, he will kill me.” The Lord said, “Take a heifer with you and say, ‘I have come to sacrifice to the Lord.’

16:3 你要請耶西來吃祭肉、我就指示你所當行的事、我所指給你的人你要膏他。 • Invite Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will show you what to do. You are to anoint for me the one I indicate.” • 16:4 撒母耳就照耶和華的話去行．到了伯利恆、那城裏的長老都戰戰兢兢的出來迎接他、問他說、你是為平安來的麼． • Samuel did what the Lord said. When he arrived at Bethlehem, the elders of the town trembled when they met him. They asked, “Do you come in peace?”

16:5 他說、為平安來的．我是給耶和華獻祭．你們當自潔、來與我同吃祭肉．撒母耳就使耶西和他眾子自潔、請他們來吃祭肉。 • Samuel replied, “Yes, in peace; I have come to sacrifice to the Lord. Consecrate yourselves and come to the sacrifice with me.” Then he consecrated Jesse and his sons and invited them to the sacrifice. • 16:6 他們來的時候、撒母耳看見以利押、就心裏說、耶和華的受膏者必定在他面前。 • When they arrived, Samuel saw Eliab and thought, “Surely the Lord’s anointed stands here before the Lord.”

16:7 耶和華卻對撒母耳說、不要看他的外貌和他身材高大、我不揀選他、因為耶和華不像人看人、人是看外貌、耶和華是看內心。 • But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” • 16:8 耶西叫亞比拿達從撒母耳面前經過、撒母耳說、耶和華也不揀選他。 • Then Jesse called Abinadab and had him pass in front of Samuel. But Samuel said, “The Lord has not chosen this one either.”

16:9 耶西又叫沙瑪從撒母耳面前經過、撒母耳說、耶和華也不揀選他。 • Jesse then had Shammah pass by, but Samuel said, “Nor has the Lord chosen this one.” • 16:10 耶西叫他七個兒子都從撒母耳面前經過、撒母耳說、這都不是耶和華所揀選的。 • Jesse had seven of his sons pass before Samuel, but Samuel said to him, “The Lord has not chosen these.”

16:11 撒母耳對耶西說、你的兒子都在這裏麼．他回答說、還有個小的、現在放羊．撒母耳對耶西說、你打發人去叫他來、他若不來、我們必不坐席。 • So he asked Jesse, “Are these all the sons you have?”“There is still the youngest,” Jesse answered. “He is tending the sheep.” Samuel said, “Send for him; we will not sit down until he arrives.” • 16:12 耶西就打發人去叫了他來．他面色光紅、雙目清秀、容貌俊美．耶和華說、這就是他、你起來膏他。 • So he sent for him and had him brought in. He was glowing with health and had a fine appearance and handsome features. Then the Lord said, “Rise and anoint him; this is the one.”

16:13 撒母耳就用角裏的膏油、在他諸兄中膏了他．從這日起、耶和華的靈就大大感動大衛．撒母耳起身回拉瑪去了。 • So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David. Samuel then went to Ramah.

12:1 耶和華差遣拿單去見大衛。拿單到了大衛那裏、對他說、在一座城裏有兩個人．一個是富戶、一個是窮人。 • The Lord sent Nathan to David. When he came to him, he said, “There were two men in a certain town, one rich and the other poor. • 12:2 富戶、有許多牛群羊群． • The rich man had a very large number of sheep and cattle, • 12:3 窮人、除了所買來養活的一隻小母羊羔之外、別無所有．羊羔在他家裏和他兒女一同長大．吃他所吃的、喝他所喝的、睡在他懷中、在他看來如同女兒一樣。 • but the poor man had nothing except one little ewe lamb he had bought. He raised it, and it grew up with him and his children. It shared his food, drank from his cup and even slept in his arms. It was like a daughter to him.

12:4 有一客人來到這富戶家裏．富戶捨不得從自己的牛群羊群中、取一隻預備給客人吃、卻取了那窮人的羊羔、預備給客人吃。 • “Now a traveler came to the rich man, but the rich man refrained from taking one of his own sheep or cattle to prepare a meal for the traveler who had come to him. Instead, he took the ewe lamb that belonged to the poor man and prepared it for the one who had come to him.” • 12:5 大衛就甚惱怒那人、對拿單說、我指著永生的耶和華起誓、行這事的人該死． • David burned with anger against the man and said to Nathan, “As surely as the Lord lives, the man who did this must die! • 12:6 他必償還羊羔四倍、因為他行這事、沒有憐恤的心。 • He must pay for that lamb four times over, because he did such a thing and had no pity.”

12:7 拿單對大衛說、你就是那人．耶和華以色列的　神如此說、我膏你作以色列的王、救你脫離掃羅的手． • Then Nathan said to David, “You are the man! This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you from the hand of Saul. • 12:8 我將你主人的家業賜給你、將你主人的妻交在你懷裏、又將以色列和猶大家賜給你．你若還以為不足、我早就加倍的賜給你。 • I gave your master’s house to you, and your master’s wives into your arms. I gave you all Israel and Judah. And if all this had been too little, I would have given you even more.

12:9 你為甚麼藐視耶和華的命令、行他眼中看為惡的事呢。你借亞捫人的刀、殺害赫人烏利亞、又娶了他的妻為妻。 • Why did you despise the word of the Lord by doing what is evil in his eyes? You struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword and took his wife to be your own. You killed him with the sword of the Ammonites. • 12:10 你既藐視我、娶了赫人烏利亞的妻為妻、所以刀劍必永不離開你的家。 • Now, therefore, the sword will never depart from your house, because you despised me and took the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your own.’

12:11 耶和華如此說、我必從你家中興起禍患攻擊你．我必在你眼前、把你的妃嬪賜給別人、他在日光之下就與他們同寢。 • “This is what the Lord says: ‘Out of your own household I am going to bring calamity on you. Before your very eyes I will take your wives and give them to one who is close to you, and he will sleep with your wives in broad daylight • 12:12 你在暗中行這事、我卻要在以色列眾人面前、日光之下、報應你。 • You did it in secret, but I will do this thing in broad daylight before all Israel.’”

12:13 大衛對拿單說、我得罪耶和華了．拿單說、耶和華已經除掉你的罪．你必不至於死。 • Then David said to Nathan, “I have sinned against the Lord.”Nathan replied, “The Lord has taken away your sin. You are not going to die. • 12:14 只是你行這事、叫耶和華的仇敵大得褻瀆的機會、故此你所得的孩子、必定要死。 • But because by doing this you have shown utter contempt for[a] the Lord, the son born to you will die.”
