ITS simulations: conditions & calibration constants • ITS can use the raw OCDB for MC simulation and reconstruction with 2 exceptions: • SPD: inefficient and dead pixels are killed at reconstruction time. The list is taken by a special storage: reco.SetSpecificStorage("ITS/Calib/SPDNoisy”,"alien://Folder=/alice/simulation/2008/v4-15-Release/Residual/"); • The need of this specific storage will be eliminated by changing the simulation code. • Geometry: due to the persistent problem of overlaps in the fully misaligned SPD geometry, the simulation is done with ideal alignment and the reconstruction of MC data with residual misalignment. • Two special storages needed • The elimination of the overlap is not a trivial task. The issue has been assessed and we have to find competent person-power to find a solution: it will be re-discussed at the next ITS Plenary meeting on Monday Offline week

  3. Checks • The usage of RAW OCDB + specific storage has been tested in the MC production LHC11e1_rawocdb • The ITS-TPC matching efficiency at tracking level is normal • SPD dead pixel. Comparison between LHC11e1_rawocdb and LHC11a10b_bis • Single dead chips are correctly handled in both cases • Fired chips and FO-fired chips are compatible • This production tests also a new de-calibration/re-calibration schema for the SDD that has been developed to use RAW OCDB in MC • Actually this is the main update in the calibration/decalibration chema for the ITS Offline week

  4. Comparison: SDD LHC11e1_rawocdb LHC11a10b_bis dE/dx information in the SDD are plotted as a function of the drift time interval there is compatibility between the 2 productions Offline week

  6. Comparison: tracking LHC11e1_rawocdb LHC11a10b_bis The tracking performance is also compatible: here the fraction of reconstructed tracks with points in a given layer is shown. There is a very good agreement Offline week

  7. Comparison: track to point residuals LHC11a10b_bis LHC11e1_rawocdb Track-to-point residuals in the drift coordinate for SDD: very good agreement Offline week

  8. Conclusions • Results with RAW OCDB in MC are fine for the ITS • The present limitations concerning geometry, which needs a special treatment, are still far from being solved Offline week
