  2. We can see that the figures are looking away from us. Frannie and Angus - Jane Latter 2009 What do they see?

  3. Artists have focused on interior spaces as a means of commenting on the way human beings construct their environment and their relationship to these places. • ‘Inner Space’ can be a real and physical space or it can also be imagined.

  4. Imagining the Inner Space • Tracey Moffat – First Jobs Series • http://www.artmuseum.uq.edu.au/index.html?page=78805&pid=16824 • John Brack – The Bathroom • http://cs.nga.gov.au/Detail.cfm?IRN=17545 • Grace Cossington Smith – Interior in Yellow • http://nga.gov.au/exhibition/cossingtonsmith/Detail.cfm?IRN=45746&BioArtistIRN=16350&MnuID=2 • Roy Lichtenstein – Kitchen Range http://artsearch.nga.gov.au/Detail.cfm?IRN=115724 • Anthony Bennett • http://www.thearchibaldprize.com.au/finalists/archibaldself-portrait in the bathroom discussing beauty, bukowski and brettwhiteley with my ex, now a stripper, who likes to dress as wonder woman

  5. How do you see it? • Make notes on why you think they work or don’t work as interiors. • What does the artist tell us by/with the images and the content? • How does the use of colour or light affect the mood of the piece? • What do you like or dislike about them? • Are there any ideas that you can use to create your own personal interior or inner space. • Think of the things that you need to consider using your observations from the images above.
