  1. Why Many Women Prefer Consulting a Female Doctor According to some studies it was found that female doctors are better listeners than their male counterparts. This is one of the reasons that women prefer to consult female doctors in Singapore or elsewhere. This trend is true for all parts of the globe. In the year 2016 Harvard conducted a study of 1.5 million hospitalised patients. This study revealed that patients who were treated by female doctors were likely to get better sooner and there were less likely to be hospitalised again in a period of 30 days. They were also less likely to die when they were compared to the patients who were treated by male doctors. This is not a gender-biased statement, but it is true that women make better doctors than men. Women have a better tolerance towards the demands that patients place on them. At the same time, they are also more empathetic to the problems of women, because they may have faced those problems some time in their lives as well. Hence, women prefer to consult female doctors, because they feel more comfortable with them. Apart from these above-mentioned reasons, there is also the question of intimate check-ups. Here women prefer to be checked by female doctors and they are not too comfortable with male doctors. This is the reason that women doctors are usually placed in hospitals and clinics where women’s ailments are treated. These could include the health of the reproductive system or the treatment of ailments related to the breasts. For instance, when women must get checked physically for anomalies in their reproductive cycle, during pregnancy, or in the case of breast health, they prefer a female doctor in Singapore.
