  1. Aadhaar Enabled Payment System(AEPS) for Accounts in India Post

  2. WHY A New System was Needed? At any point of time Accounts in Head Post Office(HO), Sub Post Office and Branch Post Office were not in Sync in the existing system. FTO is updated in customers account at HO and the data travels to the SO manually. There is a time lag of 7-15 days for information to be reflected in all three offices (HO-SO-BO). Non reflection of Transactions at all the three Offices in real time. Large number of MANREGA and NSAP beneficiaries are having accounts only in post offices.

  3. Solution Each BO/SO will be provided with Terminals (Capable of capturing finger print and other information including Aadhaar) HO would get their computers connected to a central Server being maintained by JAPIT exclusively for this. Terminals connected to AEPS would enable them to work as Banking Correspondence to India Post. Mobile number can be used in place of Aadhaar for conducting transactions in conjunction with OTP for authentication.

  4. Solution contd.. All transactions(Deposit/Withdrawal/Transfer) will be Aadhaar/Mobile Based. Aadhaar/Mobile to Account Conversion and Authentication of the customer will be achieved in the aforesaid server. Aadhaar/Mobile need to be seeded in the JAPIT Server as well as HPO
