Objective: SWBAT Generate a strong conclusion paragraph by incorporating relevant information from the introduction / thesis using new, varied language. 31 October 2013 English I CPA Do Now: Select the best sample conclusion from the following excerpts: Thesis from Introduction – Figurative language, dialogue, and situational irony are successfully employed within Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Cask of Amontillado” to engage the reader in a memorable sensory experience.

  2. Objective: SWBAT Generate a strong conclusion paragraph by incorporating relevant information from the introduction / thesis using new, varied language. A. Edgar Allan Poe successfully employs situational irony, figurative language, and dialogue into “The Cask of Amontillado.” Use of these various literary techniques serves to enhance the experience of the reader. Reading “The Cask of Amontillado” teaches new writers how to write well by effectively employing desired techniques. Desired techniques can help new writers develop their voices. B. Poe’s proficient use of figurative language, dialogue, and situational irony enhances “The Cask of Amontillado.” By using such techniques Poe is able to attract many readers. Authors like Poe, who use literary techniques well are more likely to become popular. C. For centuries, the works of Edgar Allan Poe have captivated audiences by engaging readers with vivid appeals to the senses. Poe’s adept implementation of figurative language, dialogue, and situational irony lends a lifelike dimensionality to his work “The Cask of Amontillado” meriting readership far and wide. Feelings of fear and tension are provoked within the reader as they are taken on a journey through the depths of the Montressor Family catacombs that is likely to send shrills up their spines. Creative implementation of sensory appeals leave readers with lasting impressions indicative of Poe’s unique style. D. “The Cask of Amontillado” serves as a strong example of a literary piece due to Poe’s use of figurative language, dialogue, and situational Irony. These literary techniques serve to improve Poe’s writing. All writers can learn to improve their techniques by following in Poe’s footsteps.
