  5. Teacher Ratings • Ten Components • Standards (7) • Student Learning Objective • Professional Development • Local Factor (optional) • Final Rating – not an average!!!

  6. Standards Ratings • 7 standards free standing and non numerical.  Final rating is up to the school. • Foundational Knowledge • Planning and Preparation • The Learning Environment • Instructional Strategies • Assessment • Professionalism • Vision and Collaboration

  7. Student Learning Objective • Student learning objectives - second semester next year will begin using these in the pilot - goal or objective they want their students to meet - next year will be semester long.  “I want my students to get here”; what will I do to get them here, and reflect on how they did. Should have two student learning objectives per year.

  8. Professional Development • Professional development rating - once a teacher has had the first summative evaluation - the teacher and principal will develop one or more goals work on them over the course of the year.  every evaluation is followed by PD - last year’s evaluation becomes part of next years

  9. Local Factors • Local Factors (optional): things like committee membership, other things in the job description.

  10. Overall Rating • Based on the components – but not an average.

  11. Principal Evaluation • The goal is to improve learning – not a gotcha!

  14. Principal Action Plan • Based on school performance issues such as: • test scores • graduation rate • Principal and evaluator agree on a goal and measures of effectiveness

  15. Professional Development • Professional development rating – same as the teachers; grows out of the summative evaluation.
