  1. ENERGY CONSUMPTION IN HOTELS Energy consumption includes usage of natural gas, petroleum products, fossil fuels, solar systems, solar, wind, geothermal, hydropower, and nuclear systems. These are all used to generate electricity. Electricity is the primary source of energy used by a hotel; therefore, many hotels measure their energy use by looking at the electricity bill.

  2. An ExampleFromAmerica For instance, Caesars Palace in Las Vegas includes over 3,000 rooms. In a month in 2006, they used 11,545,127 kilowatt-hours of electricity, 31,219,000 gallons of water, and produced 55,051 cubic yards of trash.

  3. There is great usage of electricity in hotels. • There are many electrical devices that work by electricity in rooms. Ineachandeveryroom there are: • One hairdryer • Onerefrigerator • Onetelevision • Bedsidelamps • HVAC systems

  4. When especially very big hotels are considered, they cause usage of great amount of electricity which cannotbe ignored. • On average, America’s 47,000 hotels spend $2,196 per available room each year on energy.

  7. Different methods of electricity production can impact the earth's climate and so cause global warming. • The great portion of U.S. greenhouse gas emission, by 86 %, comes from energy production and use.

  9. The generation of electricity is the single largest source of CO2 emission. • According to data collected in 2008, there is 8.5 tones of CO2 emission in a year and 75% of it is caused by the combustion of fossil fuels.

  10. Electricity generators use alsoforests and other plants stocks. • Forests are harvested in order to produce biomass fuels which are used to generate electricity. Deforestation directly points the global warming.

  11. Nuclearpowerplants arealsousedtogenerateelectricity. Theydon’t release greenhouse gases, but they present risk of radioactive releases. • Radioactivity is anothercause of global warming.

HOTELS’ POLICY TO BECOME MORE ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY • In a hotel called Disney Resorts in Orlando, by a towel program where the sheets and towels are changed every third day unless requested otherwise by the guest. • 6.5 million gallons of water, 5,000 gallons of cleaning solution, 600,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity and 37.5 million cubic feet of natural gas are saved.
