What is “InPrivate?” • On August 25, 2008, officials from Microsoft stated that they will be providing a new private browsing feature on Internet Explorer. • “InPrivate” also known as “porn mode” allows people to cover their online history.
Microsoft, since working with Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2, will design InPrivate so that it can allow users to delete cookies. • Internet cookies= Cookies are short pieces of data that are used by web servers to help identify web users. • With this, users can either keep the cookies of their visited sites or choose to delete them.
Other “InPrivate” Functions • InPrivate Blocking will help inform users about parts of their online history that can be accessed; allowing you to block it if you choose. • InPrivate Subscriptions will allow users to block or allow specific websites.
Microsoft has stated that they expect to have the new version of Internet Explorer 8 out in November 2008 that includes InPrivate functions. • Do you think that this function will be beneficial or harmful to users? Why?
