  1. Informer Web ReportingBasic Reporting Presenter: Andrew Morovati NOTE: THIS PRESENTATION PROVIDED BY ENTRINSIK

  2. Informer Reports • Name, Meta Type, Description, Role • Criteria – what records are returned • Fields – what columns to show • Groups – what columns to group on • Sorts – sorting within groups • Totals – Any numeric or monetary fields may be totalled. • Normalize – Should explode values • Category – categories to include

  3. Report Criteria Compare fields to values or fields to fields “?” prompts user; “?!” requires the prompt be filled; “?!Text” Changes the prompt to “Text”. Code file fields use code files as possible choices. Selecting none == “” Date fields have a date chooser, as well as keywords like “TODAY”

  4. Report Columns Choose among columns accessible to your role. Ctrl+Click will enable selection of multiple Rearrange the columns with “Move up/down” Bulk remove with Ctrl+Click Choose fields to sort/group by. Uncheck “Display Fields” to remove field from output but enable sorting. Add counter + totals only will give a count of the items Fields with a blue “+” next to them are linked to other files Column headings may be changed.

  5. Report Groups and Sorts Grouping by a field automatically sorts by that field – no need to specify Grouping by fields enables sub-totaling if there are totals Asc/Desc controls order of the groups. Sorts order the output within groups or in the whole set if not grouped. The page size must be greater than row count in order to group in the browser. PDF, and Print will always group

  6. Report Groups and Sorts Sorting/Grouping by a linked field only works when you return all rows, because Informer cannot have the sort done by the database, and must have all the data back to sort.

  7. Report Totals Any numeric or monetary field may be totalled in output Output will subtotal where grouped. Totals only will detail suppress. Only the grouped fields and totalled fields will show in output. Averages count blank values as 0. To avoid this, selection should omit blank values.

  8. Report Categories Reports belong to multiple categories. Reports with no category show up in “Home” Report Search will help find a lost report.

  9. Report Customizations Customizations only apply to the particular user. Be careful not to customize when you want to change.

  10. Report Detail May change column headings. May change page size. Edit any previous settings. If report is to be public, uncheck ‘Personal Report’, give the report a role, and Lock the report. ‘Excel’ creates a live excel spreadsheet.

  11. Report Export Excel is “csv” Text is tab-delimited. PDF output formats are assigned to the reports. Printable will duplicate column headings among pages. Save List will generate a savedlist from the selection criteria in the target data account.

  12. Report Schedule Runtime Criteria set per schedule. Attachments don’t authenticate. Browser links do authenticate. HTML output should only be sent within firewall because of the style and images embedded in it. Output to a specific folder is a path on the Informer web server.
