With the help of findings of the screening tests, the doctor can detect the presence of growths called polyps. This, in turn, will help the healthcare professional to remove the growth before it turns into cancer. Since usually, people at or beyond age 45 are at high risk of getting this disease, the screening process should be held on a prior basis before the need of seeking colon cancer treatment arises. 2. Food items such as red meat (beef, pork, or lamb) and processed meats (hot dogs and some luncheon meats) should be avoided as they increase the risk of colorectal cancer.

Get Calcium and Vitamin D: As per numerous scientific evidence collected by various researchers around the world, providing enough calcium(1,000 to 1,200 milligrams per day) and Vitamin D (1000 international units (IU) per day) to the body can cut down the risk of colon cancer to a minimum. 5. Take multivitamins: Taking a multivitamin on a daily basis can work like a good nutrition policy that can safeguard against colon cancer to a great extent. Apart from calcium and vitamin D, multivitamins comprise of folate, which has been regarded as a prime contributor to lowering down the risk of colon cancer in a significant manner. 6. Don't Smoke: Chain smokers or people who have been smoking for an extended period are more likely to die from colon cancer when compared to non-smokers. Hence, quitting this habit is the only option if one wants to save themselves from exposing to the severe implications of this disease. 7. Limit Alcohol consumption: Just like cigarettes, alcohol can amplify the risk of colorectal cancer too. One should keep a close check on their alcohol consumption rate, if not leave it entirely. By keeping aforementioned precautionary measures in mind, one can reduce the risk of colon cancer. However, due to a variety of reasons including age, family history, or a disease, cutting down the risk becomes challenging for a majority of people. In situations like these, seeking an appropriate colon cancer treatment is the only solution.
