2. What Happened? • On Wednesday the 16th1983 over 100 fires started at about 3pm. It started at the Dandenong and ended somewhere in Adelaide. Thousands of homes and buildings were destroyed in the fires and it took about 2 week for the flowers, trees and bushes to regrow and contain colour.

4. What the citizens think! • Aunty Cris- There was lots of smoke covering the sky, lots of coverage on T.V., heaps of family's without home, many of people were crying. • Mum- From a distance we could see all the burnt trees in the forest from the main road down below. It was pretty scary because it was so close to home. My dad also had a friend that lived in the Dandenong's and his house was destroyed by the fire. My mum also remembers driving though the burnt out forest to where the family friends house was and it was all burnt out and all the trees were black. They were all ok. • Uncle John- He heard all about what was happening on the news, newspaper, t.v. and on the radio. The sky was black it was also dark and frightening. • Dad- When he was at school the teachers said to stay in side because of the giant smoke cloud outside and I could be dangerous.
