  2. Acts 2:42-47 They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 3. Acts 2:42-47 continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

  4. Background • Fellowship - A shared ongoing interaction which makes a contribution into each other’s lives. • Life in God meant to be bigger than me & mine • Meant to be lived in community of believers, called THE CHURCH • “Other than one small exception, the rest of the world is made up of others”

  6. Sharpen Each Other Compassionately • Prov 27:17 • There is both a pleasure & an advantage to conversation • It’s abrasive in nature for both sides. • Means bringing correction, admonition • Reprove, rebuke and exhort 2 Tim 4:2 • Commit to tell the truth in love

  7. Build Each Other Up Intentionally • 1 Thess 5:11 • Edify or construct something in someone else. • “What I appreciate about you is…” • Spur one another to love & good works Heb 10:24-25 • Pride & insecurity stand in way of intentionality • Who needs a word of edification? • Practice it, then say it

  8. Conclusion • God wants us living in community • Who can I encourage today? • Is there someone we should invite over? • Who has a need that I am aware of? • Love one another deeply • Sharpen one another compassionately • Build one another up intentionally
