Teen Leadership

7th Period

Strong currents & dangerous waves…

Swimming was a way to be used as a rite to be considered a man.

The book is set in

A small Cornish fishing

A person who shows fear or timidity.

Cowardice, in general terms, is perceived failure to demonstrate sufficient robustness in the face of a challenging situation.

The quality of mind or spirit that enables a person to face difficulty, danger, pain, without fear; bravery.

“The Plot Summary”

This story takes place in Carn Du which is a small fishing village somewhere on the Cornish coast most likely in the 19th century. However the most important parts of the story specifically take place either at sea or at “The Black Rock”

Views on the Book:

Harry Paul is the leading role/character in the story. He is pressured by the other older fishermen to jump off the Black Rock. It was used as a right of passasge.

Harry shows leadership

By refusing to into the

Peer pressure for tradition

Of jumping off of the

Black Rock and is forgiving

In the end…

This book was a good pick

For teenleadership class

Because it shows a story

Of a young person who is

Everything a leader should be

In the end when Mark Penelly asked for forgivness he said” Ask God to forgive you, Mark; I am going to forget the past. I thank him, that I saved your life.

Showing that he

Has Integrity.
