Intellectual Property Office • Established through RA 8293, or the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines divided into: • The Bureau of Patents • The Bureau of Trademarks • The Bureau of Legal Affairs • The Documentation, Information and Technology Transfer Bureau • The Administrative, Financial and Personnel Services Bureau

  3. What does it do? • Examines applications for patents for inventions • Registers utility models and industrial designs • Examines applications for registration of marks, indication and integrated circuits • Registers technology transfer arrangements • Settles disputes involving technology transport payments

  4. What does it do? • Develops and Implements strategies to promote and facilitate technology transfer • Promotes the use of patent information for the development of technology • Publishes the patents, marks, utility models and industrial designs it has issued and approved as well as the technology transfer arrangements that have been registered

  5. What does it do? • Settles contested proceedings which affect Intellectual Property rights • Coordinates with other government agencies and the private sector to formulate and implement plans and policies which increase the protection of intellectual property rights in the Philippines. (Anti-Piracy)
