Mentoring Demonstration Project • Provincial Opportunity • In Fall 2004, the Ministry of Education presented Ontario school boards the opportunity to submit a proposal to participate in the mentoring demonstration project • HPEDSB was successful in their proposal and selected to be part of the ministry pilot project

Mentoring Demonstration ProjectHPEDSB • Provincial Framework • Provided funding from November 2004 through to August 2005 • New contract teachers as well as long-term occasional teachers were part of the HPEDSB MDP • One-to-one mentoring support was provided to the new contract teachers, inservice and central support was offered to the occasional teachers

Mentoring Demonstration ProjectHPEDSB • Support for Mentors, Relationship and Program Connection • Networking time • 2 days for each the mentor and the new teacher • Structured to meet new teacher needs • Framework for networking approval based on identified categories by the Ministry of Education • Application process provided data to support success of the program
