  5. Holiday Traditions Diwali Diwali is a holiday celebrated India and Nepal. Diwali was originally created after Rama rescued Sita. To celebrate the people in the town put up lights to lead them home. Once Rama returned with Sita the towns people had a big festival of lights. Firecrackers, fireworks, fire poppers it was so fun. So the town decided to call it Diwali. Diwali also means festival of lights. So the day Rama and Sita had Diwali is the day the we celebrated every year. We have all kinds fun things like firecrackers and fireworks. Everyone has a great time. Guess what the first Diwali was celebrated in the white house! I personally like Diwali because of the meaning. I also like Diwali because of all the fun things. Diwali is truly the festival of lights.
