  1. DHS PROM DRESS CODE Why do we have a dress code? DHS staff and administration wants you to make good choices. We are not trying to inhibit your style. Prom should be fun, but we want everyone to be comfortable and safe.

  2. With modesty in mind, the following Young Ladies Dress Code guidelines will be enforced at the 2019 Dothan High School Prom. First, we will show examples of girls’ prom dresses:

  3. Notice how the bodice of the dress extends as far as the underside of the arm. The entire bust area is covered.

  4. #1 Dresses may not be cut below the bust line. The bust continues around your sides directly under the armpit. With arms down at your side, if flesh touches flesh below the bust line, the dress is inappropriate. This dress meets dress code. BUST LINE BUST LINE (on the side)

  5. Hemlines Appropriate dress length will be at the midpoint between the knee and fingertip Unacceptable Hemline is higher than the midpoint between knee and fingertip length. Notice bodice doesn’t meet dress code either!

  6. Acceptable Dresses

  7. Prom Dress Code for Young Men

  8. For our young men, the key point to keep in mind when deciding what to wear is that Prom is a very special“formal” occasion. Casual clothing is not appropriate. Jackets are encouraged Button up shirts are required Long slacks are required Dress jeans allowed Shoes are required

  9. Tuxedos always work for prom!

  10. Acceptable Dress Sport Coats and Suits

  11. Acceptable Formal Western Wear

  12. Unacceptable Mens’ Wear

  13. ACCEPTABLE PEARCINGS

  14. UNACCEPTABLE PEARCINGS

  15. We sincerely hope the previous slides are helpful to our young ladies and parents as they select their dresses for this most important occasion of their high school experience. Again, if there are any questions regarding a dress’s appropriateness, please contact: Dr. Hall or Ms. Weatherington
