  1. 7 Crucial Tips For Students To Become More Employable

  2. “College is knowledge. As obsolete as this statement might sound now, its accuracy never loses its charm. However, we wanna make a small change to the saying, “College is knowledge that makes you more employable”. Today, parents and students have realised the importance of ‘a’ degree (subject to the end of number acquisitions too), due to its ability to make students more employable and more ‘job-friendly’. Trust us, at M B Patil, we have gained the expertise of the parents’ and students’ psyche alike, regarding their eagerness to get into the college and course of their choice. Most of us, here at the M B Patil education community, proudly established by Mr.ManojPatil, an expert in the field of education career counseling, are aware of the importance of a college degree. It officially says, “Up for job grabs”. Let us now look at some crucial tips for such students that are already in the job market or are in the making, to become more employable.

  3. 1. Get involved in university life. You really need to understand that university life is vastly different from school life. You are viewed as an adult who will be ready to face the real world. A university can be considered as a mock simulation that is prepping you for the real world outside. Yes, classes are of utmost importance and the academics come first, but make sure you are not missing out on the important part of personal development, skill upgrade and improvement of people skills during this time. Socialize (with the right crowd, of course), participate and stay alert for any opportunities that suit your interest.

  4. 2. Go for career counseling for a broader perspective. This one has gained a lot of popularity in recent years since education career counseling isn’t just restricted to the generic preachy mechanism now. It’s all about you. Your personality, interests, potential and even mental health. You can discuss these with a career expert who will guide you and give you a lot of clarity about what lies ahead, based on what you have done or are doing. Ask us! We at M B Patil have seen so many batches in the last decade itself who have had career and life-changing experiences with us.

  5. 3. Keep a record of your personal achievements, personal developments and co-curricular activities. Create a personal record or file that has a record of all your milestones, a file that has a record of all your co-currricular activities. A planner or journal that has recorded any personal or professional achievements. This will not only keep you on track but will help you retain a record and progress that you can show wherever and whenever required. Creating and updating a good CV is also a part of this process.

  6. 4. Focus on your grades. At the end of the day, no matter how much you have done in any field, if your grades aren’t good enough, you lose out, big time! As an education career counseling organization, we cannot stress enough the importance of a good GPA, whether in India or abroad. Along with your CV and your track record, your grades will largely reflect on your consistency, your sincerity and your seriousness towards the field. Make sure your grades reflect that successfully.

  7. 5. Engage in volunteering activities and gather enough work experience. Volunteering activities always give you an edge over the candidates since they show that you have leadership and management skills and effective communication skills. They also show your diversity and knowledge of different fields and work cultures. Apart from these, take any internship opportunity that comes your way since it adds a lot of weight to your CV and gives you a headstart on office culture and how things work there. Joining college societies is a good way to start with these practices.

  8. 6. Get good at networking. When you follow the above-mentioned tips, your circle tends to expand, giving you the right exposure and confidence to communicate with as many people as possible. Apart from that, always use your social media presence to expand your network. Either update or create a social media profile on a preferred platform strictly for professional networking. Create a LinkedIn profile or Internshala account and keep it updated with the latest developments in your career. These will help you understand what is going on in the market and where to go for the right opportunities.

  9. 7. Understand the graduate job market. M B Patil has always provided counseling that has helped students understand the different recruitment needs and tailors their portfolio accordingly while helping them get into the college and course of their choice. You need to start doing this too. Top graduate recruiters have specific season-wise closing dates while smaller companies looking for individual graduates will want you to start work almost immediately after you finish your degree. Timing your applications and fitting them around your exams/ coursework is therefore important.

  10. When we provide you with these tips, we speak with expertise and experience of more than a decade in the field. These are tried and tested methods that have helped students lead student life the right way. This is why M B Patil is known to provide the best career counseling in Pune. So, to reap the benefits of education career counseling the right way and to experience the knowledge of college, visit us!
