  3. Birth of Apollo • Apollo is the son of Zeus and Leto. • When Hera, the wife of Zeus, found out about Leto’s pregnancy she was extremely jealous. • She forced Leto to roam the Earth for a place to give birth. • The place she chose was Delos. • There Apollo and his twin sister Artemis was born.

  4. The “Sun God” “TheSunGod” Apollo is the God of light and is sometimes associated with Helios the Sun God Not only was he the God of light but also music, prophecy, colonization, medicine, archery, poetry, dance, intellectual inquiry and carer of herds and flocks.

  5. Story of Daphne • Apollo made fun of the God of love, Eros, he said that Eros’s archery skills were pathetic. So he took two arrows, and shot Apollo with one that made him fall in love with a nymph named Daphne, with the other he shot Daphne causing her to abhor the thought of love. Because of this Apollo pursued Daphne but she rejected him and ran from him. She eventually fled to the mountains and she asked the God Peneus for help. When Apollo approached her she turned into a laurel tree. He then made the laurel tree his sacred tree.

  6. Apollo’s Love life • Apollo never married. • He had many mates. • People he mated with: Marpessa, Chione, Arsinoe, Kyrene, Melia, Eudne, Thero, Psamathe, Philonis, and Chrysothemis. • He also mated with men.

  7. Things About Apollo • Apollo’s kids were: Kleopatra, Philammon, Asklepios, Aristaios, Tenoros, Iamos, Chairon, Linos, Parthenos. • Apollo could be ruthless when he was angry. When a Satry challenged him to a music contest he won and after he did he had the satry skinned alive. • In art Apollo is at most times depicted as a handsome young man, clean shaven and carrying either a lyre or his bow and arrows.
