  1. Alliteration • The repetition of beginning sounds of words in a line • Mr. Miller makes maple muffins.

  2. Assonance • The repetition of vowel sounds in a line • The whole group loaded onto the boat.

  3. Consonance • The repetition of consonant sounds within a line • It looked like a plain old milkshake to Taylor.

  4. onomatopoeia • A word that imitates sound • Vroom! The car sped down the highway.

  5. Rhyme • Words sound alike because they share the same ending vowel and consonant sounds • Lamp • Stamp

  6. Internal rhyme • Is when several words within a line rhyme • I will make and bake a cake.

  7. End rhyme • A word at the end of one line rhymes with a word at the end of another line • The little green frog, sat on a wet log.
